Toronto Intergenerational Partnerships (TIGP)

Bringing Generations and Communities Together Since 1986

From the cliffs of St. John’s to the surf of Tofino, from Inuvik to Windsor, cities coast to coast across Canada encouraged young and old to say hello and get to know each other better by recognizing Intergenerational Day Canada on June 1st.

At the request of TIGP, the City of Toronto declared Intergenerational Day Canada on June 1, 2014 in Toronto.  In addition, the Toronto District School Board proclaimed that “this year and every year following, June 1st be proclaimed Intergenerational Day in the Toronto District School Board”.

As a leader in the development and delivery of intergenerational programs in Toronto, TIGP called to action residents of Toronto to celebrate Intergenerational Day Canada on June 1st, 2014. TIGP encouraged Toronto residents to plan special time with older generations in their communities to build harmony amongst generations.

Communities across Toronto joined over 100+ cities nationwide and 4 provinces who declared this special day!  In honour of the day, TIGP and some of its community partners planned inaugural events in Toronto at:

  • The Adanac Community
  • Greenwood Towers
  • The O’Neill Centre
  • True Davidson Acres, City of Toronto Long-Term Care Home
