Averena Maenz is a graduate of the Master of Social Work program at the University of Toronto with a specialization in Gerontology. Averena volunteered for two years in her hometown of Abbotsford, B.C as a big sister with the In-School Mentoring program at Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Canada, as well as two years here in Toronto. Averena first saw a TIGP program at The O'Neill Centre where she had a school placement and loved the concept behind it.  Having experience with both youth and older adults Averena sees how important it is to have programming that bridges generations.  After going to another TIGP event in the community Averena decided she wanted to become more involved and became a board member in 2014. After two years as a TIGP board member, new opportunities relocated Averena to Montreal, however, Averena is looking forward to remaining on with TIGP as an associate board member.
