Barbara Michalik is a graduate of the Social Service Worker-Gerontology program at Seneca College, with a Bachelor of Arts-Sociology Degree from York University.  Barbara is the Director of Community Partnerships, Programs and Volunteer Services at the Rekai Centres (Sherbourne Place and Wellesley Central Place LTC) where she chairs numerous committees and is active on the Palliative Care & Pain Management, George Brown College SSW Advisory and LGTBQ 519 Senior Pride committees, focusing this year on Responsive Behaviours and Gentle Persuasion Approach. Barbara has developed intergenerational programs in partnership with Rose Avenue Child Care Centre, TCDSB Our Lady of Lourdes and TDSB Parenting and Family Literacy Programs East (Sprucecourt Public School) and she looks forward to hosting “Intergenerational Day Canada” events at the Rekai Centres. She has also been a part-time Faculty Advisor and Field Liaison Technologist in the Activation/ Gerontology Program at George Brown College. Barbara looks forward to sharing her experiences as a board member of the TIGP Board of Directors.
