Welcome! TIGP takes your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how TIGP collects, shares and protects information about our clients, volunteers, partners, members, donors and supporters. This Privacy Policy covers both our “online” (e.g. website and mobile applications) and our “offline” (e.g. collection of data through registration, telephone, mailings, events, etc.)

Privacy Policy

TIGP respects the privacy of our clients, partners, volunteers, donors and visitors. We are committed to keeping all personal information confidential and we do not distribute or disclose any information to third parties. Information will not be sold, reused or loaned and personal information will only be used for the purpose for which it is collected. All information will be stored securely and disposed of in a safe and timely manner when no longer required. We use appropriate safety measures to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of data used by our system.

We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon the posting of the revised Privacy Policy.

Exceptions to Disclosure of Personal Information

TIGP may be required to release personal information without asking for consent if:
• we believe someone is in danger of immediate harm
• a child under the age of 16 is at risk of or has been abused or neglected
• we have been subpoenaed by the court
• we have to obey a summons, warrant or similar order, and
• other times when we are permitted or required by law

TIGP does not recommend or endorse any of the information and organizations that present information, on our website or on other websites linked to our website. TIGP is not responsible for the accuracy or appropriateness of the information presented on websites linked to our website. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these sites. We will, however, remove links to material that we feel is inappropriate as we become aware of them. By accepting these terms, you agree that TIGP shall not be responsible or liable for any loss, damages or other matters of any sort incurred as the result of any dealings with the links on our website.

Website Reproduction Requests

The Information may be downloaded, reproduced electronically and/or reprinted for personal non-commercial use only, provided the information is not modified and all copyright and other proprietary notices are retained. You must obtain written permission from an authorized representative of TIGP to otherwise copy, reproduce electronically, republish or disseminate the information in any manner or form.

These terms of use are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, and you agree that any action you commence related to the Site will be brought in the courts of the Province of Ontario.

Electronic Mailings

Our email marketing is permission based. If you received a mailing from us, our records indicate that:

1. you have expressly shared this address for the purpose of receiving information in the future (“opt in”), or
2. you have registered or purchased or otherwise have an existing relationship with us.

If you believe you have received unwanted, unsolicited mail sent via this system or claimed to be sent via this system, please forward a copy of that email with your comments to – sue@tigp.org for review.

Each email sent contains an easy, automated way for you to cease receiving email from us, or to change your expressed interests. If you wish to do this, simply follow the “opt out” unsubscribe or update profile links at the end of any email.

When we send you emails, we may include a web beacon to allow us to determine the number of people who open our emails. When you click on a link in an email, we may record this individual response to allow us to customize our offerings to you. Web beacons collect only limited information, such as a cookie identifier, time and date of page being reviewed, and a description of the page on which the web beacon resides (the URL). Web beacons can be refused when delivered via email. If you do not wish to receive web beacons via email, you need to disable HTML images or refuse HTML (select text only) emails via your email software.

Our website contains a pre-registration form which requires users to give us contact information (such as name, address, telephone number). The information from this pre-registration form is used by TIGP to enable our staff to contact you to provide more information. This information will not be entered in any type of continuous mailing list or sold.

Use of Information

TIGP keeps electronic and paper records about our clients, volunteers, partners, members, donors and supporters. To ensure that the confidentiality of personal information is protected and maintained, we protect personal information by reasonable security safeguards against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.

We may use your personal information, demographic information or usage information that we collect about you –
• to maintain communication with you, relevant to your relationship with TIGP
• to provide you with information or services that you have requested or agreed to receive, including sending you electronic newsletters, or to provide you with periodic mailings
• to enable you to participate in a variety of the services, programs or events that we offer
• to process your registration or inquiry, including verifying your information is active and valid
• to improve our services, to customize your experiences with our services and to provide you with specific content that is most relevant to you
• to contact you with regard your use of service, changes to the service you receive and/or changes to our service policies
• to conduct surveys, evaluations and research on the services we provide
• to recognize length of service
• to recognize donor contributions
• for internal business purposes
• for purposes disclosed at the time you provide your information or as otherwise set out in this Privacy Policy

Clients, Volunteers, Members and Partners

Only staff who are directly involved in client care and supervision of programs have access records. Internal records are protected through use of passwords and policies to ensure the information remains private.

You have the right to –
• see a copy of your record and ask for help to understand your record
• have errors or omissions in your record corrected
• refuse to give your consent to share or use your information
• change your mind about sharing or using your information
• ask to have TIGP’s privacy and confidentiality policies explained
• complain to TIGP’s Privacy Officer if you think your privacy is not being protected

We do not knowingly collect information about children under the age of 18 years without their parent or guardian consent.

Donors

TIGP does not trade or sell any of its donor information. A list of donors is published in our Annual Report and donors may request to remain anonymous if they wish.

We do not reveal your credit card number to third parties, except when transmitting the credit card number to the appropriate credit card company.
